News On Top Travel Complaints

Posted on 05.17.12

Whether complaints have affected you on your vacations or not, you can not help but read about them in the news. Complaints in regards to safety and health, airline regulations and restrictions, the cost of accommodations or sites and even traffic are commonly in the news, especially during the busy holiday travel season. You can more easily avoid issues when traveling by staying informed.

  1. The price of gas – The cost of gasoline is by far, one of the most common travel complaints. Current news in regards to this topic is proving however, that as much as we may complain about the cost of gas, that does not seem to be stopping us. According to AAA, the number of people planning to enjoy the relaxation of a summer vacation is up over 1.2 percent from last year. To combat the price of gas, travelers seem to be simply traveling a bit closer to home as opposed to cutting the vacation altogether.

  2. Hotels are too crowded – For many vacationers, hotel or the most standard forms of accommodations are just too crowded, we want our own space. In addition, the inability to prepared a snack or our own meals if we want is also a downside to this form of travel. Fortunately, there is another option and condominiums seem to be gaining in popularity. Offering more space, a kitchen and other creature comforts, condos are still growing in diversity and popularity today.

  3. Airlines make us wait too long – As a airline traveler, you have rights, and recent rules in regards to these rights have been updated. Your comfort and experience is important to the DOT and to prove it, new rules regarding Tarmac delays were put in place. For those who thought it would not work, not only are the complaints fewer, but the first penalty has officially been assessed on one airline who failed to inform their passengers about fees and failing to post and enact tarmac delay contingency plans. 4. Airline fees and costs are just too high – This is by far, the most common complaint in regards to travel today and for good reason. Despite a stagnant economy which is still not rebounded, the airlines continue to raise their prices and add even more fees. The only good thing which has come in recent months in relation to this topic is the fact that they are required to display full prices and fees so you are at least informed.
