- San Diego Zoo – World renowned, this famous zoo is located in Balboa Park and is not only one of the largest but also one of the most progressive as well. Home to over 4,000 animals encompassing over 800 species, the exhibits are unique and the animals obviously well attended. - Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Located in Orlando Florida, the Animal Kingdom is home to around 1700 animals and over 250 species. What sets this apart is the rides more like its theme park home than a traditional zoo. Instead of just walking around, you can take a ride on a safari and explore the African Savannah or enjoy many other special experiences for kids of all ages.
- Philadelphia Zoo – In Pennsylvania you will find the Philadelphia Zoo, a zoo which has been in existence since the mid 1800’s making it the oldest zoo in America today. Over 150 years old, this is a park that may not be huge, home to only 1,300 animals, it represents more than just numbers. With over 42 acres, the enclosures are large and the animals represent a diverse species including not just the big cats but the Rare animals as well.
- San Antonio Zoo – At about 50 acres in size, the San Antonio Zoo, Texas offers visitors a diverse look at over 3,500 animals representing 700 plus species and one of the largest bird collections in the world today.
- Phoenix Zoo – Located in Arizona, this zoo become well known for its famous baby elephant, Ruby back in 1973. Her love of doodling with a stick in the sand made her and the zoo famous as a paintbrush in her trunk then raised hundreds of thousands for the zoo.
- Forth Worth Zoo – Another Texas zoo, the Fort Worth Zoo has been voted one of the best for years. Home to a diverse group of animals and plants this group includes over 350 species from almost every continent and even pays special attention to its native Texas flora and fauna as well.
